Food & Photography: RGB & The Bean Hive – Part 2

Hi all! This is a continuation of my previous post where I’ve briefly wrote about my awesome dining partners (Robin Wong [Intagram @shutter.therapy] & Jess Hoh [Instagram @jesshht]) and the main spread.

I have featured the gorgelicious velvety vegan pumpkin soup in my last post and will continue to touch on the other mains and conclude with the desserts in this post.

The Main Spread

That’s Not Bacon?!?

We’ve ordered the Vegan Breakfast and to our surprise, there were pieces of crisp looking bacon lounging on top of the seasoned baked beans. My palate was definitely surprised and I was amazed how my senses were somehow taken by this little bite of sorcery.

“It looks like bacon… it smells like bacon… it feels like bacon… But it doesn’t really taste like bacon!”

The Vegan Breakfast

The vegan breakfast platter consisted of crisp savoury tempeh bacon strips, delectably baked beans and wonderfully seasoned sweet potato wedges, which were accompanied by a slice of sourdough and fresh salad.

Cheesy Goodness

I absolutely loved this cheesy mess of sauteed mushrooms served on top of sourdough slice, which was accompanied by soft moist scrambled eggs, avocado slices and lightly dressed fresh watercress.

Avocado Cheddar Melt Toast

I must say that this went exceptionally well with the beautiful aromatic smooth cappuccino which was made with their in-house roasted coffee beans.

Give Me That Beef!

This sexy beefy sandwich definitely satisfied my carnivorous appetite. Served with a side of lightly dressed fresh salad, the gorgeliciously seasoned pulled brisket was juicy and each bite had me coming back for more.

Australian Beef Brisket

This juicy brisket was such a seductive mess to eat that it had me licking my fingers at the end.

The Desserts

There’s nothing better than a plethora of decadent desserts to end a wonderful meal with good friends.

The Dessert Spread

The scone, which had a subtle coconut aroma, was served with a knob of butter and strawberry jam.

This decadent cheesecake was absolutely sublime with hints of lime cutting through each creamy mouthful along with the caramelized pineapple.

Hawaiian Cheese Cake

This dense brownie was surprisingly moist and its heavy chocolatey goodness can never be denied. However, I suspect that this good brownie may be vegan as there was an absence of butter aroma during tasting.

Chocolate Brownie

I am usually not really a big fan of carrot cakes as most tend to be overly dry whilst dense. But this baby here has been my favourite since its debut in year 2014! This carrot cake was moist and each bite was pleasantly perfumed with a subtle carrot yet nutty aroma.

Carrot Walnut Cake

Absolutely loved this chocolate almond cake as it was not overly sweet. And yes, it was heavy on the cocoa for this gorgelicous piece.

Final Thoughts

This quaint little coffee place is one of my earlier favourites since relocating to Kuala Lumpur. Over my years of patronage to RGB & The Bean Hive, the friendly staffs have been very helpful and it was easy checking out which dish was ideal for my dining moods… may it be carnivorous, vegetarian or vegan.

The coffee, needless to say, was good in my books and RGB had always taken pride in their in-house roasts as well as their food.
